How Open Research practices can improve your agricultural, earth and environmental science outputs
Time and date: Thursday, 27th November 2025, 3.00-4.00 pm CET
This webinar is about how Open Data, Open Peer Review and Diamond Open Access Publishing can serve your earth, environmental and agricultural research outputs.
In Prof Kiringai Kamau’s talk, “From FAIR to FAIR+CARE and DCMOs: Operationalizing Trust in Open Research", he will introduce the Lisbon–GODAN Integration Framework, a groundbreaking model that extends FAIR data principles through the CARE Principles (Collective benefit, Authority to control, Responsibility, and Ethics). Drawing examples from agroecology, traceability, and the Murang’a County data ecosystem, Prof. Kamau will explore how FAIR+CARE principles and GODAN’s Digital Collective Management Organization (DCMO) model can transform open research outputs into a sustainable digital commons that remains transparent, verifiable, and ethically governed.
Olivier Pourret (UniLaSalle) will discuss how Diamond Open Access can build a more equitable publishing environment in geochemistry.
Emma Smith (F1000) will discuss new publishing models, with a focus on how the publish-review-curate model of publishing and Open Peer Review can accelerate discoveries within earth & environmental sciences, using F1000 as a case study.
